1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how jba~team (“we”, “us”) handles your data when you use the Android app ScanConvert - Travel Tool (the “App”). The App converts prices captured through your camera into another currency and lets you collect converted amounts in travel budget lists.

We built ScanConvert to be privacy-friendly by design: text recognition happens entirely on your device, camera images are never uploaded, and your lists and settings are stored locally on your device only.

2. Who is responsible

3. Camera and text recognition

The App uses your device camera to recognize prices in the live camera preview. Text recognition is performed entirely on your device using Google ML Kit Text Recognition (on-device). Camera frames are processed in real time and are never stored, uploaded, or transmitted to us or to any third party.

Camera access requires your permission, which you can revoke at any time in your device settings. Without camera permission, you can still use the manual amount input.

4. Exchange rates

To convert currencies, the App periodically fetches current exchange rates from open.er-api.com (ExchangeRate-API). This request contains no personal data beyond what is technically necessary to make an internet request (such as your IP address). The retrieved rates are cached on your device so the App also works offline.

5. Data stored on your device

The following data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us:

• Your travel budget lists and their entries (amounts, currencies, budgets)
• Your pinned favorite currencies and onboarding status
• App settings (such as language) and the cached exchange rates

If you uninstall the App, this data is deleted. You can also clear it at any time via your device's app settings (“Clear data”).

6. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of the App shows ads served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC). AdMob may process your device's advertising ID and other device information to serve and measure ads. Details can be found in Google's Privacy Policy and in Google's AdMob data usage documentation.

Consent: If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent via Google's consent dialog (User Messaging Platform) before any ads are loaded. Personalized ads are only shown with your consent. You can review or change your choice at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy options.

If you purchase the ad-free upgrade, no ads are loaded and no advertising-related data is processed.

7. In-app purchases

Premium features (ad-free, unlimited lists, list export, Vacation Pass) are offered as in-app purchases via Google Play Billing. The purchase is processed entirely by Google Play; we do not receive your payment details. The App only receives confirmation of which features you have unlocked. 8. List export

You can export your lists (for example as CSV or PDF) using the export feature. Exports are created locally and shared only through the Android share dialog with an app of your choosing. What happens with the exported file afterwards is under your control.

9. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and restrict the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Note: since almost all App data is stored only on your device and never reaches us, most of these rights can be exercised directly on your device (for example by deleting the App data). For advertising data processed by Google, please also refer to the controls in your Google settings and the in-app privacy options.

10. Children

The App is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. This website

Our website (jba-team.com) is a static site and does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking. Our hosting provider may process technical access logs (such as IP address and time of access) to deliver the site securely. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which involves a technical request to Google servers; see Google's Privacy Policy.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add features or when legal requirements change. The current version is always available on this page; the date above indicates the latest revision.
